The sign of development for practically everything that happens in the world is usually reflected in the addition of new items, products, systems and new technology in all spheres of life including medication. We know because for years we’ve found that new products herald better treatments, more satisfied patients and a great sense of satisfaction and confidence in selling new products such as udenafil, for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). If you are looking for an online pharmacy to purchase Medications, you should give this one a try, as we have had positive experiences making purchases here.

What is this New ED Medication?

Udenafil (generic active ingredient with brand name (Zydena), is a brand new addition to the phosphodiestrase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor that’s definitely going to be used for treating erectile dysfunction (ED).

It’s approval has come from South Korea and will be traded under the brand name Zydena with approval still pending for use in the U.S., E.U., and Canada.

In this article, for practical and convenience outlooks, we shall be describing the inherent properties, uses and efficacy of Udenafil under its brand name Zydena, along with other aspects, such as side effects, precautions, interactions, and the like.

The Aspect of Action (Pharmacology)

ZYDENA (udenafil) which has been made as an oral treatment for treating erectile dysfunction (ED), is a pyrazolopyrimidinone class and also a selective inhibitor of cyuclic quanoisne monophosphate (cGMP)-specific phospodiesterase type 5 (PDE5 of the corpus cavenosum, which give rise to potent penile erection.

Aspects of Indications and Uses

ZYDENA has been indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Dose

Generally speaking the recommendations for adult male patients is the starting dose of 100 mg to be taken orally approximately 30 minutes to 12 hours before the sexual act.

The maximum dosing frequency is for the 100 mg dose to be taken only once daily.

The dose can be increased to 200 mg, based on the effectiveness and tolerance of individual patients that also includes reactions to the 100 mg dose.

This drug medication can be taken without regard to meals and for elderly patients of 65 years and over, there’s no control of doses in elderly patients.

What if You Overdosed on this Medication?

In some studies involving healthy volunteer participants, no severe adverse effects were observed.

However, adverse effect frequency such as headache and flushing had the propensity to increase with dose, but most of them proved mild in severity and soon dissipated on their own without treatment being administered.

In the event of overdosing, adoption of normal supportive measures should be pursued and acted upon as needed.

Normal renal (kidney) dialysis is not expected to speed up clearance due to the fact that udenafil is strongly bound to plasma proteins and therefore does not exit the body with urination.

Contraindications for Zydena

The main contraindications for Zydena are its use in patients who have severe failure of the liver or an equal failure of the kidneys.

Zydena shouldn’t be administered to patients who are under the age of 18 years old.

The use of Zydena is also contraindicated in people with proven hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the tablet.

Zydena has been shown to boost the hypotensive effects of acute and severe nitrates, and its taking in combination with nitric oxide contributors, organic nitrates or organic nitrites in whatever form, either on a regular or intermittent basis has also been declared unsafe to actualize (contraindicated).

Some of the drugs that shouldn’t be taken in combination with Zydena can include the following:

  • Glyceryl trintrate (injection, tablets, sprays or patches;
  • Isosorbide salts;
  • Sodium nitroprusside;
  • Amyl nitrite;
  • Nicorandil; or
  • Organic nitrates in any form

Zydena is also contraindicated in men who have been advised their taking part in sexual intercourse has been deemed inadvisable on the grounds of cardiovascular risk factors such as patients with severe cardiovascular disease that involves a confirmed cardiac failure and an unstable angina pectoris.

The likelihood of cardiovascular issues in men who have erectile dysfunction which have not been diagnosed should be reviewed before giving them a prescription of Zydena.

Male patients with erectile dysfunction together with a prior episode of NAION (non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy shouldn’t be recommended for taking Zydena.

The following sub-groups of patients have not been studied for the safety of udenafil before taking the medications and should therefore be deemed contraindicated until further information is available:

  • Severe hepatic impairment;
  • Hypotension (blood pressure <90/50 mmHg);
  • Hypertension (blood pressure >170/110 mmHg);
  • Recent history of stroke cerebral hemorrhage or myocardial infarction
  • Known hereditary degenerative retinal disorders such as retinitis pigmentosa (only a small number of these patients have genetic disorders of retinal phosphodiesterases).

The efficacy and safety of taking of Zydena in combination with other medications has not been studied.

For this reason, the taking of this medication in combination with other mediations isn’t recommended.

The taking of Zydena is equally inadvisable for patients who have the congenital QT prolongation syndrome, or who are taking medications that increase the QT interval.

Zydena contains lactose and as such patients who have genetic issues such as galactose intolenance, Lapp lactase dificieny, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medication.

Some of the drugs that shouldn’t be taken in combination with Zydena.

 Adverse Reactions

During a nationwide clinical trial, Zydena was administered to 923 patients in Korea.

Generally speaking, most of the adverse reactions were only temporary with severity as mild to moderate.

The most common adverse reactions were flushing and headache.

In other clinical studies unconfirmed adverse reactions prior to marketing included the following:

  • head discomfort
  • hypotension
  • feeling cold
  • increased erection
  • feeling dim
  • nasal hemorrhage
  • palpitation
  • coughing
  • postural dizziness
  • respiratory distress during exercise
  • postural dizziness
  • dyspnea
  • somnosis
  • diarrhea
  • ear daze
  • erythema
  • eye discomfort
  • rash

When single doses of up to 200 mg daily were applied during clinical trials, types of adverse reactions tended to increase when compared to the single doses of 100 mg.

Bottom line

From all that has been said in the forgoing pages, it’s evident that the new addition to the arsenal of drug medications for the treatment of erectile dysfunction such as udenafil (Zydena) has increased the capability for treating ED. Interestingly, clinical study results before the marketing of the product have been included shedding a clear light into the efficacy of udenafil (Zydena) to qualify as a valuable addition to the ever growing arsenal of treatments.
